To promote the formation, the use of products of wood and an efficient management of the forest biomass, principal conclusions of the Industrial Observatory.

The Industrial Observatory of the Wood has presented today in Valladolid the conclusions of the works and studies elaborated in the exercise 2009.

The Industrial Observatory of the Sector of the Madeira, constituted by the Department of Industry, CONFEMADERA, the union federations MCA-UGT and FECOMA-CCOO, and FEDIT, has presented today in Valladolid the conclusions of the works and studies elaborated during the exercise 2009. These works highlight the need to promote the elimination of the barriers of access to the vocational training for the employment in the sector, the use of products of wood for his contribution to the climate change, the most efficient management of the forest biomass, and the creation of a Technological Forum on new materials, between other conclusions directed to improving the competitiveness of the sector in our country.

The works developed throughout 2009 analyze the reality of the sector of the wood in Spain, and present a series of recommendations that affect in aspects as the contribution of the products of wood to the improvement of the environment and to the fight against the climate change; the suitable global management of the forest biomass to be able to be used both for the production of energy and for the industry of the wood; the need to improve the levels of qualification, both of businessmen and of workers and professionals of the sector, who favour the application of new technologies, technologies of management and processes of innovation; and the advances produced in the investigation of the materials used in the manufacture of furniture tending to obtain a major environmental respect and major safety for the final consumer, between other topics.

In the day they have taken part on the part of the Department of Industry, the General Assistant director of Sectorial Industrial Policies, Timoteo de la Fuente, the General manager of Industry, Jesus Candil, and the General Secretariat of the Department of Industry, Teresa Santero; on the part of CONFEMADERA, his General Secretary, Francesc de Paula Pons and his Director of Technology and Environment, Laura Martin; for FECOMA-CCOO, the Secretary of Sectorial Studies and Union Formation, Vicente Sanchez, and the General Secretary, Fernando Serrano; for MCA-UGT, his Secretary of Union and Sectorial Politics, Carlos Romero, and the Attached Secretary to the General Secretariat, Teodoro Escorial Clemente, and for FEDIT_AIDIMA, Manuel Carrillo, and the member of his Governing Advice, Fernando Molpeceres

During the year 2009, the studies and works of the Industrial Observatory of the Wood have centred on the analysis of the materials used in the manufacture of furniture and his trends; in the contribution of the use of products of wood to the fight against the climate change; the bases for the integration of the formative offer for the employment in the sector of the wood and the alternatives of forest management for different uses of the wood.

The conclusions adopted as the Observatory in relation with the situation of the sector of the wood and of the furniture, they have identified a series of possible actions that they can contribute to the improvement of aspects that affect in the competitiveness of the sector. Between the analyzed measures, there is recommended the elimination of the barriers of access to the Vocational training for the Employment, adapting the contents, modalities of imparting, duration and schedules to the specific needs of the groups to which the formation is destined, respecting that 50 % of the school hours gives inside the Labour Day.

With regard to the alternatives of forest management for different uses of the wood is underlined the need to promote on the part of the competent Administration a suitable management of the forest biomass, since it will allow the putting in management of numerous woodlands with the consequent ecological benefit: stimulation of the growth of the masses, diminution of risk of fires, diminution of risk of occurrence of plagues and / or diseases …; and economic: strengthening of the companies of the forest sector, maintenance of an economic fabric, source of rural employment, etc.

At the same time one recommends to promote and to establish, on the part of the competent Administration, measures of support and helps for the certification of the productive woodlands and for the certification of the companies transform of wood, in relation with the public green purchases.

The analysis realized to promote the utilization of products of wood in construction, decoration, packing and packing, etc. It affects in the need to realize campaigns of awareness, and of bearing them in mind in the regulation and legislation, for his contribution to the improvement of the environment and the fight against the climate change. The utilization of products of wood can help to reduce the emission of several manners and of a very clear way in the sector of construction.

Parallel, he proclaims himself to promote a Technological Forum on new materials, which it allows to propitiate actions of diffusion of the advantages of the wood opposite to other substitute materials, as well as to define a system of value orientated to the final user, offering, promoting and measuring the advantages of the new materials on the products in general and in ended especially.

On the other hand, with the study of the materials used in the manufacture of furniture and trends there parts the need to investigate and develop the methodologies of accounting carbon in the Spanish forests and in the products of wood produced and consumed in Spain, as well as the system of evaluation and check of the carbon footprint in products of wood.

In this context one recommends to continue the analysis of the trends and innovations of the materials, promoting and spreading the results of the lines of investigation that allow to obtain materials of high added value, with improved properties, across the determination and analysis of the technical characteristics and the behaviour of the same ones.
